Service Description: <div style='text-align:Left;'><div><div><p><span>Geological data that are used for a broad range of academic and practical applications, including growth-management planning, dam safety, hazard and risk assessment, water resource appraisals, resource use and protection, education, recreation, and scientific research.</span></p><p><span>This dataset portrays the geology of Washington State at a scale of 1:100,000 (1 inch equals approximately 1.58 miles). The purpose is to make the geology of the state available as a seamless dataset for use in regional spatial analyses and other digital applications and for providing a framework for planning and land management and evaluating geologic hazards and resources. It was prepared in cooperation with the U. S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Geologic Mapping Program.</span></p><p><span>This service consists of 12 feature classes and 1 table containing 1:100,000-scale geologic mapping for Washington State. Feature classes include: attitude_points (structural data), contacts, dikes (dikes and sills), faults, folds (fold data), geologic dates (from sampled locations), geologic_unit_polygons (geologic unit polygon data), map_index (spatial location of all 1:100,000 scale data and their sources), map_line (linear geologic data), map_point (geologic point data), misc_polygons (miscellaneous polygon data), and volcanic_vents (vent data). Also included within the geodatabase is a related unit description table, unit_descriptions, which defines each unit as reported by the author of the published map, and provides age, lithology, and full unit descriptions.</span></p></div></div></div>
