Description: This layer shows the locations of geologic faults in Washington, mapped at a scale of 1: 500,000. A fault is a break in the Earth’s crust. Faults can be classified into three major categories, based on how the rocks on either side of the fault move relative to each other. Some examples include: normal, reverse, and strike-slip.
